The birth of Zalgor

  • Yes...YES!

Said Gamon the Darksouled. A pit of black, gooey substance before him, ingredients falling from his hands into it. Bubbles and strange movements in the liquid.

  • YES! The catalysts are acting! Their reagents...yes! YES! YES! My wretched creation! Soon! SOON!

  • Gamon!

In the dark room entered Lazara. Sister of Gamon. Bringing in her hands a sack with something inside.

  • I brought it.

  • Yes! Yes Lazara! There’s use for kin, yes! Give it to me! GIVE IT!

  • The village! Give me the village crystal first!

  • Oh? Oh? That old thing? I shattered it, hehahaha. But! But, I can tell you where to find a new one...IF YOU JUST GIVE THE SACK TO ME!!!

Lazara had a disgusted look on her face. She threw the sack at his feet.

  • Eat the damn Glowroot. A new crystal. Where?

  • Ahhhahahahaha! Yes yes, my Glowroot! My Glowroot, yes!

  • GAMON

Lazara had a grip on her sword.

  • Oh? Ah, at the old swamp, near the village of course! Where did you think they got the first one? Hahahahaha!

Lazara let go of the weapon.

  • You better be right Gamon. I’m tired of this. I’m tired of you. Once I’m out of here, I’m never meeting you again. That’s a promise.

  • Yes! Like the promises you made about killing me?? Hahahahahahaha!

Lazara’s heart tightened.

  • Shut up brother! Shut up…

She was still conflicted. Forever to be.

  • And Gamon?

  • Ahahahahahaha! Glowroot, I waited so long! FINALLY!

Said the dark sorcerer, pouring the bag's contents in the pit. Some sort of tree roots fell. They were quickly absorbed by the goo, which began to glow. Lazara paid no heed to that.

  • Gamon! Whatever you’re cooking, if it ends up hurting people I’m gonna stop you, you hear? I’m gonna break this place apart and throw you in jail.

  • Like you said you would at Rockport, sister! Like in Rockport!

  • Shut!...

Lazara was gonna retort, but chose not to. She just left. Confused, conflicted, worried. Restraining herself and her impulses. Like she always had done. For her brother.

Gamon was left alone to his devices. The pit’s substance glow began to fade. At the same time, it began to expand upwards. It began to take shape, limbs of sorts, something like a creature. A mouth too. And eyes. 7 of them. Gamon was in a state of mania.

Words came from the entity.

  • ...the void...grants you it’s essence, human…

  • YES! YES! YES YES YES YES YES! MY CREATION!

  • ...name me...give me purpose…

  • ZALGOR! YOUR NAME SHALL BE ZALGOR! AND YOUR PURPOSE...MAYHEM!!!

For The Innocent

  • This is it, Zalgor!

Said Steban, sword in hand, eyes in fury.

  • I’m here to avenge everyone! Everyone! You have done enough you monster! I will end you!

Then smiled Zalgor, the 7-eyed dark beast of the void. Preparing herself to feast.

  • Are you capable of slaying me, little one? With your puny, tiny sword and your angry words? Ahaha...ahahahahahaha…THEN FACE ME!

Saying this Zalgor thrusted her giant claws in the direction of Steban. Steban ducked and avoided the attack. Zalgor raised her many limbs and delivered many more thrusts and swings. Steban parried, shielded himself, avoided the hits. The blood in his veins were burning in the chaos of battle.

  • Attack me a hundred times creature! I won’t be defeated!

  • RGRAAARRRR!!!

Roared Zalgor. With great strength she penetrated the tiles on the floor and opened deep holes. From them, in few seconds...magma. Lava. Erupted and started to fill the chamber. Steban ran and grabbed one of the broken pillars, climbing and standing on top of it. The lava was rising.

Steban grabbed his grappling hook. With one swift and dexterous motion he threw and fixed the hook’s claw on a support beam above. He swinged himself. With great velocity he passed through Zalgor’s side, slashing one of her eyes. Black liquid spilled from her wound.

  • RRAAAHHH! ARRRRG! HOW DARE YOU!

  • Feel retribution beast!

Steban stopped his motion at a nearby statue. He could pull his grappling hook back now. Zalgor tried to slay him in this moment, but Steban let go of the hook’s rope and dodged the attack. The rope was cut though, the hook was no more. Steban climbed the spiral staircase behind him to escape the rising lava. Zalgor saw, and propelled herself up. Her jump made an echoing noise, her many claws and talons fixed her on higher ground. A place with the perfect angle to strike Steban in his ascend.

Many slashes and strikes Steban avoided. They made cracks in the structure, parts of the staircase were falling below. Steban made it to a higher level, but Zalgor ascended close after as well. Many attacks. Some were successful, left dents in Steban’s armor, ripped apart some straps, pierced and damaged his flesh. Now the blood of both had been shedded. Steban did not falter. He maintained his speed. He dodged the fatal blows.

They reached the top floor. Zalgor broke a hole through to get there. Steban...Steban was tired.

They looked at each other for a while. Zalgor enraged, murderous. Steban’s muscles were failing, his body standing only by sheer determination. The lava could be heard getting closer from below.

Zalgor attacked. Steban defended. She attacked again. Steban stepped aside from the blow and got close enough to slash a second eye. Black blood spilled again.

  • INSECT!

Zalgor tried to turn and hit him with a talon. Steban ducked and pierced his blade through an eye that was now closer. The blood spilled on him this time.

Before Zalgor went for her next move, Steban took his blade and slashed another eye. And another. And another. Only one eye remained, Zalgor felt defeat creeping in her heart like a tendril. And her anger...the only thing she had left.

  • HOW CAN YOU DEFEAT ME? YOU ARE WEAK FLESH. I AM THE SPAWN OF DARKNESS! THE CREATION OF GAMON THE DARKSOULED!!! YOU ARE NOTHING!

  • I am something

Said Steban preparing his final blow.

  • I am your death

After saying that Steban ran towards her. Zalgor’s sharp teeth tried to bite him, but they weren’t fast enough. He jumped them and brutally penetrated Zalgor’s last eye with his sword. Zalgor couldn’t do anything. Her limbs slashed and flailed at Steban’s armor and flesh, but he was relentless. He pushed his sword deeper and executed a dilacerating strike to her last eyeball. Recoiling from the pain, Zalgor finally managed to push Steban away, only for the beast to fall on the hole she had made right before, then falling on the sea of lava down below. Steban was prone, hurting. He let a stream of blood erupt from his mouth. He could feel his heart almost stop beating. Almost. With the last of his energies he got on his knees. He breathed. He breathed. He found strength to stand up. He limped towards the hole and took a peek through. He saw the carcass of Zalgor, burning in lava. The creature moving no more.

Steban breathed once more. He closed his eyes. He slowly turned, to the entrance of the temple, where he had entered only moments ago. He was leaving.

In victory.

The love and the life

The love and the life

The soul and the smile

The light and the shadow

The ways of the heart

Are known to no one

Except for me

For I have a beloved

That loves me dearly

I love her so much

Just ask me, it's true

The way she embraces

Makes me feel brand new

The love of my life

I love her so much

I just want to ask you

Is this too much? :p

Bloom

Every seed knows how to bloom

But not all that blooms lives forever

Indeed, living forever is hard

And hard things are not for many

But many can try many things

And trying, some say, is winning

Even if winning brings the fear of losing

For losing brings with itself lessons

And lessons make one wiser

Truly, wisdom is the seed of greatness

And greatness, like a seed or a person

....Can bloom

I see an island in the ocean

"I see an island in the ocean"

"Yes. That's what the picture shows"

"Why though?"

"Why is there an island in the ocean?"

"No, why does this picture show an island in the ocean?"

"Because it was taken in the ocean. And there was an island there"

"But why was this taken?"

"To show an island in the ocean"

"But why would someone want to show somebody else an island in the ocean?"

"I don't know, but that's what they asked me to show you."

"What? Why? I don't care about seeing an island in the ocean"

"Then why have you done that?"

"Why have I seen an island in the ocean? What-I just did because you just showed me this picture!"

"Of course. But why have you done that 25 years ago?"

"I didn't see any island 25 years ago! What are you talking about???"

"Yes you did. You saw this island and in fact, you are the one who took this picture. 25 years ago. You were a sailor. Yesterday your doctor asked me to show you this picture to see how much your Alzheimer's has affected you"

"Oh"

The old man kept looking at the picture for a few seconds

"I see an island in the ocean"

"Yes"

Reflection

Was I walking all alone

What a fool, I wasn’t looking, hit myself in thing unknown

It was a mirror

Learned my lesson I have

Now whenever I walk plenty with no obstacle in my path

I feel blinded

I’ve seen the apocalypse

  • “Doctor!

I’ve seen the apocalypse! I’ve seen balls of fire raining from the sky!

The four horsemen spreading misery upon humankind!

The absolute end of the lives we all once knew!”

  • “It was a dream”

  • “...yes”

Unheld

At first it was just a rumour. Nobody knows who started it, but eventually everybody knew of it. Unheld, people call it. A perverse and grotesque creature. It has claimed many victims, but the authorities never share the details with the public. They cannot.

His story begins in a prison. Nobody knows which one, though many think they do. An old, dirty and understaffed prison. The inmates were getting worse and worse care. Maggots in their food, no medical supplies. One day there was an outbreak. The guards were overrun, but a few ran away, locking the gates before leaving. After that, the place became a cesspool of violence and sin. In a few days, the worst there came on top. A maniac, lunatic and dangerous man. Called himself the Devil’s shaman. He made rituals on the others. Sometimes to sacrifice, sometimes to transform them into something else. All feared him. His reign lasted for a whole week.

The government finally moved enough force to intervene. There was fighting. The most violent prisoners lost their lives. Including the shaman. In the end, they were all pacified. Order was reestablished.

When checking the archive room, police noticed one of the prisoners had his records altered. Ripped papers all over the floor. They were crumpled, burned and smeared with piss and feces. Only one was intact, written in it the word UNHELD. Written in blood. They asked the inmates, and were told that was the shaman’s work. He was named Unheld, and had already escaped. The prisoners were accused of lying, and were punished for uncooperation. In the end, whoever Unheld was, it was never discovered.

A few days pass, strange murders start to happen in the nearby town. Murders with noticeable patterns. Victims always killed in their homes, always in small and dirty homes. They were ‘reserved’, they were ‘introverted’, their friends always say. Barred windows. Whenever he sees one, the killer leaves it broken. The prisoners would know if they saw it. That was Unheld.

The bodies he leaves. They’re always full of cuts and bruises. Many near the mouth and anus. Semen accompanies. The rib cage is left in shatters, only one rib intact...but shoved through the forehead. Profound marks on the eyes, on the head. Like huge fangs were sunk on the skull. Repeatedly. And near the body...a message. In blood. “IT WAS YOU”. Never hidden, meant to be seen. In every murder. Always.

‘Rape and murder’, police thought. The forensics had more to it though. It didn’t make sense. The marks didn’t match with tools or weapons. They didn’t match with anything. Was it a person? A wild animal? What thing made this? This was unnerving, they didn’t know how to look at it. This case had a weird feeling to it. Too weird feeling. Almost possessed by it, they decided that this would be hidden from the public. Until they figured this out. Many were conflicted, but when they tried to change their minds...the feeling just possessed them.

The crimes continued, the deaths continued. The cops never grasped what was the thing. They just kept hiding it. At one point, they got so used to it that it became involuntary. They now dealt with the feeling by removing it from conscience.

Few days thereafter, Unheld moved to another town. And the same repeated itself. He then moved to another town. Then another. Then another. Unheld reached all human settlements. Fear and unrest fill the hearts of those who know his atrocities. Nobody knows how he does it. At times a town tries something. They scout potential victims, plan his actions. But the murders never stop, never. Unheld is never caught. And never satisfied.

Tomorrow, a gruesome death will occur. And it cannot be prevented. For he is Unheld.

The Man and the Lamp

There was a man who wanted to find a magic lamp.

He was told such item could be found in Arabia. With that goal, the man dedicated himself, and a few months after he had learned to speak arabic. He traveled, and upon arriving in Arabia, he was told a journey through the desert was necessary, so he could reach a distant village, where clues about the lamp were to be found. To achieve that, the man had to learn how to properly mount and properly ride a camel.

Upon entering the village the man asked around, and was told the clues about the lamp were known by an elder standing near the well. The elder was thirsty, and told the man he would share his secrets if he could help figure out where the water of the well had gone. The man did an intense excavation by the side of the village well. After many days, he discovered there were rocks blocking the water from below ground. The man worked day in and day out removing the rocks, until finally the water returned to the well. The elder thanked the man, and told him the lamp he knew about was atop a mountain in his home country, Mongolia. The man thanked the elder, and took himself to Mongolia.

There, he took mountain climbing classes. Upon completing many of’em, and choosing a trustworthy guide, the man started the climb. After many weeks he reached the top. There, the man searched carefully for the object and eventually found it, a magical lamp, much like in the tale of Aladdin.

The man rubbed the lamp, and from it out came a genie, as one could expect. The genie asked the man “what are your three wishes?”. The man replied: “I want to be a man of great feats genie! Feats like learning exotic languages, taming animals I’ve never seen, to be able to perform intense labours and ascend to the highest mountains!”

Moral: the potential to acquire what you want is always within you
